Letter Writer Calls For Opposition Unity, Reveals Jammeh's Secretes

Hakilo calls for opposition unity; reveals Jammeh’s secrets

Mr Editor,

Please allow me to make this plea to the Gambian opposition who seem to be entrenched in individual gains than they actually portray themselves in pretence. And yet deceive themselves that, we do believe them. I want to make it clear to the opposition that every mature Gambian can see through their greed by taking us for a ride in their so-called arguments that they are the future and indeed genuine to be voted for. Yet the line between them and Yaya Jammeh is very thin in that except for Yaya’s murders, they are not that much better in terms of selfishness or patriotism. How the very same people can be contesting election after another, legitimising Yaya Jammeh in the process without learning along and change strategy by unifying at all cost?

I have a suggestion... How about look for somebody outside the present opposition leadership and take him or her to lead the unified opposition and contest the 2011 election just to rid us of Yaya. This person will be given a mandate to rule purely by Constitution for a period; say two years and prepare grounds for another election where the current opposition leaders and whoever may wish to form a new political party can contest in their capacities as leaders of their individual parties. However, this person cannot contest in the election at the end of this mandate but will be able to do so if he or she wishes at the next election. This is the only way I can foresee a genuine compromise between the personalities heading the various major established political parties in the country. Otherwise, we will be running in the same vicious circles over again, where Yaya Jammeh will be the sole benefactor.

Yaya has deployed all possible mechanisms into play to prolong himself in power. I remember seeing all of it when he distributed funds for Jolas of Senegalese-Cassamance nationals to be registered in nearby villages in Foni and Kombo. This is a major factor in the number of votes caste in past elections and also influences the statistics on voter turnouts. Yaya has Mr Ousman Koro Ceesay, the first Finance minister murdered because, (Koro)  Ceesay saw his appointment as commitment to Gambians and just wanted to tell the budget as it really was in the budget speech he never get to report.  This would have shaped the people’s perception to know the bandits who hijacked the state. Yaya had accomplices in Edward Singhateh and his brother Peter, Yankuba Touray and a senior army commander to ‘invite Koro for some discussion’ and murdered in Yankuba’s compound. This is why that murder and all murders solicited by the Kanilai-Devil, including Deyda Hydara never got investigated.

How long do the Gambian opposition leaders assume or expect Gambians to be fooled by their selfish political gimmicks? Why can they not see beyond individual gains as it is the whole of Gambia currently suffering?  This is the only time left as they will never be forgiven if they do not have it right this time due to selfish ideologies for its wise decision time.

About the Touba Magal charity for the demise of Abdoulaye Wade, did I not say that he gave them out under directives for a purpose? All remembered when Yaya invited General Ansumana Manneh and presented him with a medal as a fellow Gambian in pretence of acknowledgement for Ansumana's assistance with technical-military-support Gambia used to receive from Bissau? The facts were that, Yaya have a tribal agenda in entrenching himself in power as has been proven in 'The Ring of Steel story' sometime ago and perceived Ansumana as a threat because Ansumana is an influential Mandinka with fledging powers in the sub-region. So he (Yaya) consulted idols and instructed Marabouts to get him ways to dislodge Ansumana before he (Ansumana) could switch his attention to Gambia as it was evident Ansumana was preparing for eventual return (home) to his newly built compound on Brufut road in Sukuta. And Ansumana would not sit idly by whilst his fellow tribes are being oppressed in humiliations. So he made some sacrifices and performed voodoo on the medal he had Baboucarr Jatta presented to Ansumana at the Arch in Banjul. Now it also ripe that God's time too for Ansumana was up when Kumba Yala had him arrested and killed shortly after. Yaya was first consulted by Yala and told Ansumana would be deported to the Gambia if he (Yaya) would request (demand) for his protection as a Gambian citizen but he opined that Ansumana does not qualify for Gambian Citizenship much more for Gambia's protection with the time he spent 'naturalised' in Bissau that Yala should do whatever he wanted with him. Yala eventually ordered for Ansumana to be killed. Since then, Yaya gradually developed a head bigger in proportion and would spiritually pursue anyone he cannot get killed physically. What he does not know is that God does coincide events and incidents with ignoramus-idolaters' assumptions only to deceive them and catch them by surprise just when they think all was well and in place for them. If not, why can Yaya not pursue and kill all of us spiritually as he would wish to stop our debates and rule Gambia for posterity? Surely, his day is dawn when Gambians shall reconcile and forgive the present ignorant few in post-Yaya Jammeh times.

May God help Gambia and make it work this time. Amen.

Thanks,

Yours

Hakilo.
