Contrary to mounting allegations on cyber space emanating from the Senegalese social media that The Gambia’s Foreign Minister, Neneh Macdouall Gaye, has jumped Yaya Jammeh’s tumbling ship, The Gambia Echo can report with absolutely certainty, that the allegations are without a scintilla of substance. “Neneh Macdouall has neither resigned nor absconded” reveals an unassailable source at the Foreign ministry in Banjul.

Speaking to a highly-placed source at the State House only moments ago, this reporter was informed that Neneh Macdouall and her Permanent Secretary, Mr. Ahmadi Jarra, are currently in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, attending a conference and the duo is due back over the weekend. “Sanks, Neneh left three days ago accompanied by her Permanent Secretary at the invitation of the Saudi Government and God willing, they will report to work on Monday” my long-time source that has sourced most of our bombshell stories confided in me.

Since yesterday, The Gambia Echo’s mailbag has been inundated with emails enquiries and our phone lines saturated with calls regarding the veracity of the allegations, including even from diplomats, and we have been diligently working the phones.

Asked for how long President Jammeh will continue in power while the entire world has legitimised President elect-Barrow, our source was quick to dismiss my contention. “Politics is a dirty game you know, we have nations like Mauritania and several other African Presidents in support of the President’s position. Mauritania wants the legal process at the Supreme Court to be exhausted and only last week, its envoy strongly assured President Jammeh that the Islamic Republic of Mauritania was fully behind him” my source revealed.
