Following the defection of Gambia’s Information Minister, Sheriff Bojang, to Dakar, Senegal, reported here last night, The Echo has been reliably informed that President Jammeh has appointed Hon. Seedy Njie as new Minister of Information.

This confirms beyond any shadow of doubt that indeed, Sheriff Bojang has jumped ship and very soon, several Ministers will follow as reported last night.

Njie, described as an ambitious young man with a proclivity for sycophancy was recently given a brand new SUV with GMD2Millions (about $45,000) in recognition of loyalty to Mr. Jammeh and Party. Only last week, he was elevated to National Mobiliser and Party spokesperson.

For now though, it remains to be seen for how long will this defections and replacements last as President-elect Adama Barrow is poised to be sworn in on January 19 as The Gambia’s third President since independence from British colonial rule on February 18, 1965.
